Shopping List:

What to do:

  1. Start cooking the brown rice

    • Rice Cooker:

      • Add 1.5 cups of rice and ~2 3/4 cups of water

    • Stovetop:

      • boil 2.5 cups of water

      • add 1.5 cups of rice

      • simmer for 40 minutes.

  2. Open 2 cans of Black Beans

    • Drain and rinse beans

  3. Add the following to your Food processor (or Bowl):

    • Cooked Rice (Or Quinoa)- 1 1/2 Cups

    • Black beans (rinsed) - 2 Cans

    • Panko - 1 1/2 Cups

    • Smoked Paprika - 1 1/2 Teaspoons

    • Garlic Powder - 1 Teaspoon

    • Oregano or Cumin (both is good too) - 1 Teaspoon

    • Salt - 1/2 Teaspoon

  4. Start Mixing ingredients

    • Food processor: Pulse for 5 - 6 seconds at a time, until about half the mixture is combined.

    • If you don't have a food processor, mash it up as well as you can using a wooden spoon or masher, and mash it all together.

  5. Place the mixture in a mixing bowl

  6. Using your hands or spatula, mix together well.

  7. Make the patties

    • Form 4-5 round jumbo balls

    • Flatten each ball into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick, and smooth any cracks along the edges.

  8. Cook the burgers

    • In a pan, heat 1 Tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat

    • Add the patties and cook for about 5 minutes

    • Flip the patties and cook for another 5 minutes

    • When they are lightly browned on each side they are done!

  9. Get out your buns and your burger condiments and you are ready to go!
